Production Manager – Johor Bahru, Malaysia
Our client is a leading global optical solutions provider that has served a variety of markets including Life Sciences, Biomedical, Industrial Inspection, Semiconductor, R&D, and Defense for more than 80 years. The company employs 1,250+ employees across 18 global locations and continues to expand. Part of this global expansion includes the development of a new assembly plant in Johor Bahru, Malaysia.
In line with this expansion, they seek an experienced operational/technical leader to oversee all major manufacturing functions and engineering initiatives. Additionally, this individual is expected to serve a mentorship role among the operational or engineering staff as well as to advise the company leadership on the best strategic paths to take on a given initiative.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
PRODUCTION MANAGER
Essential Functions:
Serve as the operational/technical leader on major manufacturing initiatives such as new manufacturing process adoption and existing process improvement.
- Serve as company’s operational/technical lead with outside entities.
- Interface with global manufacturing sites and engineering staff to address advancement of manufacturing technology.
- Provide company leadership with technical tradeoffs and risks pertaining to project work as well as general engineering efforts such that company leadership may make informed decisions.
- Manage and mentor a team of operational/technical staff including engineers/interns.
- Attend and/or present at external training and seminars to further the operational/technical exposure of the company and to keep up to date on the latest in manufacturing technology.
- Comply with federal, state, and company policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications:
To perform this position successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily as a full-time employee in Malaysia. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.
Required Skills & Abilities:
- Proficiency in Operation Management in manufacturing or assembly.
- Proficiency in basic mechanical principles and mechanical layout
- Entry level knowledge in Optical Fabrication, Optical Physics, Optical Coatings, Opto-Mechanical principles, or other areas within the Optical Industry
- Knowledge of company products and applications
- Understanding of document control
- Great interpersonal, communication, organization skills with hands-on behaviour
- Great math, MS Excel, Power Point skills
- English, Chinese and Bahasa Malay proficiency:
- Value on teamwork
- Motivated and self-starter
Education/Experience:
Min BS and MS in Manufacturing Engineering or equivalent experience with 12+ years’ experience preferably in the related optical industry with a strong focus on optical manufacturing and assembly.
