Due to expansion, they seek an experienced Freight Trader (Panamax) to join them in Singapore and play a pivotal role in leading their Freight Trading activities, with a focus on Panamax vessels, leveraging their expertise to optimize freight pricing, negotiate contracts, and identify market opportunities. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

FREIGHT (PANAMAX) TRADER, SINGAPORE

Mission:

Optimise the transportation of bulk commodities across global markets. Leveraging the fleet and strategic time charters, you’ll navigate complex supply chains, negotiate freight rates, and execute trades with precision. Your goal is to maximize profitability while minimizing risks, ensuring timely delivery and customer satisfaction. RESPONSIBILITIES:

Freight Pricing and Negotiation:

• Communicate effectively with internal and external traders, clients, charterers, vessel owners, and brokers to price freight accurately.
• Utilize Freight Forward Agreement (FFA) tools and analyse external price proposals to determine fair market prices.
• Negotiate freight rates and other contractual terms in Charter Party agreements to maximize value for the company.

Relationship Management:

• Develop and nurture relationships with the trading team, identifying and pursuing trading flows complementary to the existing book.
• Develop and nurture relationships with external traders, clients, charterers, vessel owners, and brokers.
• Anticipate market demands and trends using in-house research and knowledge, positioning tonnage and cargo to extract maximum value.

Market Analysis and Strategy:

• Stay abreast of global Panamax trading routes and market dynamics, both short and long term, to anticipate changes and opportunities.
• Identify and trade arbitrage and hedging opportunities in the physical freight market to optimize trading positions.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Liaise with internal commodity teams to anticipate demand and ensure smooth internal shipment programs.
• Work closely with freight operations teams across the organization, providing clear instructions to maximize vessel economics.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

• Minimum of 10 years of commercial experience in freight trading and chartering, preferably within the dry bulk and Panamax sectors.
• Familiarity with global Panamax trading routes and a strong understanding of hedging practices and trading position management.
• Proficiency in English (both verbal and written), with proficiency in Mandarin considered an advantage.
• Strong negotiation skills and the ability to build and maintain relationships with ship owners, charterers, and clients.
• Experience in fixing forward Contracts of Affreightment (COAs) is preferred.
• Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and IT skills, including proficiency in MS Office applications.
• Ability to thrive in a multicultural team environment, with a flexible and entrepreneurial work attitude.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, solve problems independently, and take on responsibilities with high motivation.
• Graduate qualification in Business Administration, or relevant subject
• Postgraduate qualifications will be highly regarded.

    Our client is the world’s leading producer of Niobium, a chemical element/mineral resource that primarily improves the strength of steel and has many different applications. The nature of their business involves the extraction, processing, manufacturing, and marketing of this chemical element, developing and providing technology for each application and final product. The task is to add value to the supply chain where the element is used. This element is widely used in structures for buildings, bridges and façades, structures of automotive bodies and in superconducting magnets of MRI scanners and hot parts of aeronautic engines, to name but a few examples.     Due to expansion within Asia, they are seeking an Inside Sales Analyst to focus on back-office sales administration, analysis and to provide support for the commercial team. This role is a fit for someone experienced in analysis and with expertise in excel files, power point presentations and familiar with SAP systems. For this position it is desirable to have experience in commercial planning and back-office activities and a personality that can work with a variety of different stakeholders while fostering teamwork.

     

    Responsibilities: 

    • Execute with a final supervision of the general manager the Price Adjustment (applicable to our partners in Japan and China).
    • Track the Sales Orders to our partners and guarantee that the entire process will happen in accordance with the S&OP agreements (delivery, inventory, forecast and invoicing to the final customers).
    • Execute the forecast analysis to support the commercial team (ensuring the deadlines of updates and bringing analysis to assist the commercial team).
    • Lead and provide analysis to the GMs and commercial team for the budget process and consolidate the upload of information in SAP and in the official spreadsheet provided by the Market intelligence department.
    • Prepare the material for the commercial teamwork on the competition information and do the consolidation and upload of the information.
    • Operate the spreadsheet developed by Pricing department to Modeling / Do a price simulation for different scenarios (and the impact in volume and average price)
    • Execute, with the forecast information, the customer credit analysis to anticipate delivery problems (which can occur if the customer does not anticipate payment, or the commercial does not obtain a credit limit or payment terms reviewed and approved by the financial area).
    • Do the assessment to customers and/or partners to identify opportunities (mill configuration, segmentation, grades, capillarity of contacts).
    • Execute analysis to sponsor the portfolio review process (SKU) – working together with the logistics team.
    • Update and do analysis for the KPIs of the office (individual and team KPIs).
    • Consolidate information on contracts/commercial agreements with customers in the region in a standardized way (Price, Payment Terms, Volume forecasted; Incoterm, Product specification align with each customer).
    • Analyze and monitor the achievement of contracts/commercial agreements.
    • Be the focal point to connect commercial improvements or solving commercial issues to teams in HQ via Commercial Planning department.
    • Be the focal point to support and ensure that all departments in the offices have clear and well-defined work instructions and procedures.
    • Be the SAP S/4 Hana project focal point to connect with the HQ team.
    • Prepare presentations (ppts) and supporting material for promotional commercial activities.
    • Establish the connection with the market intelligence department to create the draft strategy to explore new markets.
    • Build relationships across the organization.

The individual in this role will be accountable for growing an LNG trading desk throughout Asia and globally.

      LNG Trading:

      • Trade physical LNG cargoes, optimize and grow the LNG portfolio, within its DoAs.
      • Propose hedging strategies to manage the exposure of the LNG portfolio.
      • Lead front office negotiation of framework contracts and related documentation needed for physical LNG trading.
      • Reflect in the ETRM the new positions in a timely manner.
      • Monitor and understand participant behaviors and market dynamics, including evaluation of physical arbitrage opportunities between different basins.
      • Take ownership of existing flow and expand footprint where profitable.
      • Manage end-to-end positions, liaising with operators, derivatives traders, middle and back.
      • Work directly with the chartering team to identify opportunities and ensure safe and optimized delivery of LNG between purchases and sales.

        The Naphtha Trader will be responsible for the development and promotion of Naphtha trading, interacting with companies involved in the refining, distribution, transportation, storage, blending and sale of hydrocarbons.         Responsibilities

        Naphtha Trading:

        • Manage a Naphtha trading portfolio covering global markets.
